Municipal Park of Colours competition entry receives third prize
Athos Dikaios + Associates Architects and Architecture Design Practice joint entry to design one of the biggest parks in Cyprus receives the 3rd prize.
The proposal, in addition to accommodating the required uses, seeks to preserve, enhance and enrich the natural environment of the study area. In an effort to facilitate the important activity of walking, an elevated walkway creates an empirical path that brings the visitor closer to nature through multidimensional experiential moments, while providing seamless accessibility to the two main uneven levels of the area. By preserving the natural landscape and enriching it with new planting of Cypriot trees, flowers and herbs, the proposal seeks to establish the "Park of Colors" as a green lung in the urban fabric, a destination and an attraction to the city of Paphos.
